As a creative individual I tend to have very rich fantasies and these fantasies are often projected onto my reality as expectations.

When my reality then doesn’t meet my expectations I am disappointed. My expectations are robbing me of my happiness.

In this case it was expectations surrounding the outcome of my project. During the process I lost hope for the outcome because the process was already disappointing my expectations. This resulted in me throwing all expectations out the door.
I continued creating, now in a peaceful state. Immersed in the now and not focused on the outcome I regained joy in the creation process.

Now I am much more content with the end result because I had no more expectations for the outcome.

This is of course a very specific situation but it can be applied to all areas of life. Since we are constantly carrying expectations from the world on us and projecting our expectations back onto the world.

This mirror provides a moment of reflection in which we let go of these expectations and immerse ourselves in the joy of being.
